Real Wedding Spotlight: Our very own Rachel!

Our very own calligrapher Rachel was wed recently. It was a beautiful affair with sweet details and reflecting her unique style and tastes. Just look at that smile when she first sees Noah on her big day, she just radiates pure, unabashed joy. We’re swooning and maybe have a tear or two! But let Rachel tell her in her own words:

When I think back to our wedding day what I remember most is how very nearly perfect it was, including the weather which is kind of a big deal in Iowa. {Almost} everything worked out just like I imagined it would. Growing up in the Midwest made it easy to decide on a romantic, rustic motif and getting married in the Midwest made it even easier to achieve. Everything from the barn where our wedding was held to the incredibly well-trained horses that we just happened across during our photos played into our theme just the way we had dreamed it would.

We originally decided to get married in September and sent out Save the Dates to announce the event. However, plans changed and we ended up eloping in June earning ourselves the {reused} title of “Sneak-elman’s.” We decided to celebrate in September with a “cerefony” since we already had so much booked and planned. Plus, who would turn down an opportunity to throw a party? (This also gave us as a business a reason to experiment with elopement invitations which was really fun!) Even though we ruffled a few feathers doing things the unconventional way, it was perfect for us and it makes me love our story even more. I think it really set the tone for our life together and strengthened us as a couple. By the time September rolled around so much of the pressure was off and we were able to really enjoy celebrating our marriage, not just our wedding, with our closest friends and family.

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, many of my favorite memories from that day are the ones that didn’t get {really} photographed: our family coming home from all over the country to celebrate with us, my dad AND my brother telling me “you caught a keeper, Rach,” and falling asleep next to my handsome husband knowing that tomorrow I could {finally} make our less-than-secret marriage Facebook official.
